Choquequirao trek 5-Days 4-Nights
The Choquequirao trek 5-day/4-night trek is one of the most captivating treks that take you into the heart of the Peruvian Andes, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and beautiful valleys in this service you will explore the archaeological center of Choquequirao Inca city, and enjoy the sunset and sunrise over the tropical mountains. Good physical condition is required for this activity.

Day 01: Cusco -Capuliyoc – Chikiska – Santa Rosa
Our excursion will start very early, we will pick you up from your hotel in our private transport with a professional guide around 4.00 am, to start the 4-and-a-half-hour journey to Capuliyoc, the starting point of the trek. On the way, we will enjoy the wonderful Limatambo Canyon and the impressive snow-capped Apu Salkantay. and then we arrive in Capuliyoc to meet our loading team and muleteers who will be with us during our trek.
Getting ready for the start
Our team of porters and horses will be in charge of carrying all our camping equipment and the necessary food for the entire trip. Once ready, we start our trek for about 4 hours to Chikiska 2,330m, where we will share our lunch with views of the Apurimac valley, where in the distance we will see the Apurimac River and our way to Santa Rosa camp climate becomes noticeable warmer, being part of the rainforest.
After lunch, we will descend to the Apurimac River, then we cross the bridge and start our ascent to Santa Rosa camp. Finally, we will arrive at our camp which is located further up the Apurimac River from where you will be able to appreciate spectacular views.
Day 02: Santa Rosa – Marampata – Choquequirao
This day is considered exciting. After waking up with a cup of tea, we will enjoy a fortifying breakfast, we will also have fruit snacks for the walk, and we will also have boiled water for our way to begin the ascent along a path through forests until we reach the peak called Marampata.
From here we will be able to appreciate part of the citadel of Choquequirao and our walk will be less demanding since we will begin with the route Vertically for approximately 2 hours with some steep and narrow paths, some ups and downs after crossing the river and passing a forest. Full of tropical flora and fauna, we will arrive at the Choquequirao citadel.
Lunch time and then explore Choquequirao
We will have lunch very close to the archaeological center. Afterwards Spend the afternoon exploring the ruins, immersing yourself in the rich history and architectural wonders that await on a guided tour. Immerse yourself in nature, its colors and breezes that help us feel inner peace. We will have a sunset in a tropical landscape surrounded by mountains and the Apurimac Canyon. We will enjoy our dinner and spend the night. Close to the hidden jewel of the Incas Choquequirao.
Day 03: Full day in Choquequirao
Enjoy the lost jewel of the Incas, Choquequirao was one of the last refuges of the Inca culture. It’s wonderful construction and Inca engineering on a mountain full of Inca mysteries surrounded by sacred temples, palaces, ceremonial ushnos, and others. Our professional guide will explain the details and history.
Take your time exploring the best of Choquequirao
Exploring the most remote sectors of this citadel we will discover the organization and its government and the expansion of its territory. Inside it, we will be able to appreciate the house of the Inca, Sectors where they were dedicated to different types of work and agriculture. You will enjoy the attention of our staff. And your lunch, dinner, and breakfast are very close to Choquequirao
Day 04: Marampata – Santa Rosa – Chiskiska
After our breakfast, we will be able to appreciate the sunrise. The first part of our hike will take approximately 2 hours to Marampata, offering us incredible views of the Apurimac Canyon, and then beginning our hike with a Santa Rosa descent. and cross the Apurímac River, continue to Chiskiska where we will have lunch, and later continue to our camp in Chikiska. Along the way, we can observe tropical flora fauna and seasonal fruits.
Day 05: Chikiska-Capuliyoc -Cusco
After a refreshing breakfast, we will leave the Chikiska campsite behind, we will continue with a final ascent along the return thrilling climb until we reach Capuliyoc approximately 4 hours. At this point, we will have a brief break to enjoy the spectacular views of the snow-capped Salkantay.
and taste our Lunch. Then we come back by tourist car passing through the town of San Pedro de Cachora -Limatambo -Anta and finally to the City of Cusco. Once in Cusco, our guide will take you to your hotel.
