The Choquequirao trek 5-day/4-night trek is one of the most captivating treks that take you into the heart of the Peruvian Andes, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and beautiful valleys in this service you will explore the archaeological center of Choquequirao Inca city, and enjoy the sunset and sunrise over the tropical mountains. Good physical condition is required for this activity.

Day 01: Cusco -Capuliyoc – Chikiska Andean Cabins
Our excursion begins early in the morning. Around 6:00 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel in private transport, accompanied by a professional Choquequirao tour guide, for a scenic 3-hour drive to Capuliyoc, the starting point of the trek. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of Limatambo Canyon and the surrounding snow-capped mountains.
From Capuliyoc, we begin a 4-hour hike to Chikiska (2,330 m / 7,644 ft). Upon arrival, we enjoy a well-deserved lunch in the Chikiska community. The afternoon is free to rest and relax, followed by a briefing from your guide about the next day’s adventure. After dinner, we spend the night in Chikiska, surrounded by the tranquility of the Andes.
Day 02: Chickiska Andean Cabins – Marampata Andean Cabins
Our trek begins with an early wake-up at 6:00 a.m. and breakfast at 6:30 a.m. After a hearty breakfast, we set off toward the Marampata community, enjoying scenic views of rivers and surrounding mountains along the way. With a bit of luck, we may even spot the Andean bear in its natural habitat.
Upon arrival in Marampata, a delicious lunch awaits us. From this panoramic viewpoint, we can admire part of the impressive Choquequirao Citadel. Later, we enjoy free time to relax, take photos, and appreciate a beautiful sunset. In the evening, our official tour guide provides a briefing for the next day, followed by dinner and an overnight stay in the mountains.
The elevation of Marampata (Choquequirao) is approximately 2,900 meters above sea level (masl).
Day 03: Explore Choquequirao Inca City – Marampata Andean Cabins
The day begins with an early wake-up at 6:00 a.m, then followed by a well-prepared breakfast at 6:30 a.m. Afterward, we set out on our trek toward the awe-inspiring Choquequirao Citadel. The walk is less demanding overall, as we follow a mainly vertical route for approximately 2.5 hours, including some steep and narrow sections with gentle ups and downs.
Along the way, we cross a river and pass through a lush forest rich in tropical flora and fauna. Upon arrival, we begin a guided exploration of the Choquequirao citadel, visiting the religious sector, main plaza, Llamas Sector, and urban area, all carefully explained by our official Choquequirao tour guide.
Take your time exploring the best of Choquequirao
While exploring the most remote sectors of the Choquequirao Citadel, we discover its political organization, government, and territorial expansion. Along the route, we visit the House of the Inca, as well as sectors dedicated to daily work and agriculture, gaining deeper insight into Inca life.
After completing the visit, we hike back to the Marampata community in approximately 2 hours. Upon arrival, a delicious lunch prepared with local crops awaits us. Later, we enjoy time to rest and relax, followed by a briefing about the next day from our official local tour guide. In the evening, we savor dinner and spend the night in the mountains, surrounded by tranquility.

Day 04: Marampata Andean Cabins – Chiskiska Andean Cabins
We begin the day with a hearty breakfast at 6:30 a.m. Shortly afterward, we take time to enjoy a spectacular sunrise, revealing breathtaking views of the Apurímac Canyon. Then, we set out on a scenic descent toward the Apurímac River, where we cross the bridge before continuing on to the Chikiska community.
Upon arrival, a delicious lunch awaits us. In the afternoon, we enjoy free time to rest and recover from the hike. Later in the day, our official Choquequirao tour guide provides a briefing for the following day, followed by dinner and a comfortable overnight stay in Andean cabins.
Day 05: Chikiska Andean Cabins – Capuliyoc – Hot Spring – Back to Cusco
We begin the final day of the Choquequirao trek very early, at 5:30 a.m. After a refreshing breakfast at 6:00 a.m., we leave the Chikiska community behind and continue with a final ascent to Capuliyoc, which takes approximately 4 hours.
Upon arrival, we enjoy a delicious lunch while taking in spectacular views of the snow-capped mountains. After lunch, we board our private van and visit the hot springs to relax and unwind. Finally, we return to Cusco, where we will drop you off at your hotel, marking the end of our services.
