Day 1: Cusco – Thermal baths of Lares – Kiswarani 6 Waterfalls campsite.
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco, at 5 a.m., where we start a three-hour trip through the beautiful Sacred Valley of the Incas to start the Lares trek to Machu Picchu plus Salt mines, Once we arrive at the town of Lares, Very famous for its medicinal hot spring, you will have your first breakfast, accompanied by tropical fruits and a view of the Lares Valley. Then you will enjoy the Medicinal Thermal Baths, Which are divided into several pools with different temperatures ranging from cold to hot water. All of them are made up of pure water of volcanic origin with minerals, which is considered good for bones, stress, muscles, etc.
After soaking in the medicinal pools for a while, our driver will drive 20 minutes to the Lares Trail trailhead to Machu Picchu. Starting here you will meet your horses and porters from the Lares trekking area who will carry our camping equipment and food for the tour, and you will deliver your canvas bags to be taken to the camp. Then we will start walking, seeing fields of crops, Quechua Andean communities with colorful costumes, and domestic animals such as llamas, and alpacas, and we will also get to know local medicinal plants. Our lunch spot on the Lares trail will be at the first town called Kiswarani, where we will also spend dinner,
We will have the afternoon free to visit the 6 Cascadas de Aguas waterfalls and We will spend the night with a view of the Lares lagoon, alongside with our Peruvian culture tours team.
Day 2: Kishuarani – Paso del Cóndor – Cancha Cancha Andean Community.
After breakfast, we will fill our water bottles and pick up our organic fruit snacks, before beginning our Lares trail expedition towards our second campsite. You will have spectacular views of the mountains of Peru, and lagoons of different shades of blue and turquoise. We will also appreciate many wild animals along the trek. We will trek uphill for four hours until reaching the highest pass in Lares called Paso del Cóndor where we will have spectacular views of the huge condor birds and over the Pituitary Glacier with an Elevation of 5,700 m / 18,700 ft. The Condor Pass itself is at 4,680 m/ 15,354 feet high. Later, we will enjoy Coca leaf tea and hot chocolate while taking in the panorama of the Lares Valley.
Continuing downhill, we will arrive at the community of Cancha Cancha where we will enjoy our lunch. The town of Cancha Cancha is located at (3,750 m). Here you will learn about the lifestyle of the locals and will see how they raise their cuy cusqueño – guinea pigs, which are considered a local delicacy. In the evening you will enjoy a hot Coca drink and dinner.
Day 3: Cancha Cancha – Huarán – Maras Salt Mine – Ollantaytambo – Machu Picchu town.
After breakfast, we say goodbye to the Cancha-Cancha high Andean community, and we will continue with our trek from Lares downhill, to the warmest area of ​​the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where we will begin to feel the climate changes. Then we will begin to see fields of different crops such as giant white corn, organic quinoa, peaches, apples, avocados, and other types of fruit. We will finish the Lares Trail tour in the small town of Huarán, in the Sacred Valley, Which is located at 2700 m. In this place, you will have lunch , then say goodbye to the porters, horses, and chef.
From there we will take a private transport to the Maras Salt Mine, where more than 3000 small evaporation chambers have been created that seem to be falling down the mountainside. This Maras salt mine has been in use since pre-Inca times. The salt is said to have healing properties because it is full of natural minerals. Local families own each of these salt flats and make a living supplying salt to the towns of the Sacred Valley. There is a small shop on site if you want to take some Peruvian Inca salt home with you.
After visiting Maras Salineras, we will board the van for 45 minutes to the city of Ollantaytambo, located in the Sacred Valley. It still has many Incan water channels, colonial houses, and Incan walls. Your tour guide will take you to see this small town until dinner time, at a local restaurant. We will then take the 7 p.m. train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town). Upon arrival at the town of Aguas Calientes, you will check into your hotel and have dinner in Machu Picchu town. Your official guide will give you recommendations for the view of Machupicchu.
Day 4: Machu Picchu Tour – Ollantaytambo – Cusco City.
Explore Machu Picchu on day 4, one of the 7 Wonders of The World. The Machu Picchu sanctuary is open from 6:00 am. We will start with breakfast at our hotel and our guide will explain the restrictions of Machu Picchu. We will take the bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu Park and then we need to have entrance tickets to Machu Picchu and a personal passport. Once we enter the Inca city, we have a 3-hour Guided Machu Picchu tour.
Machu Picchu Park was declared a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.this important archaeological park was built by the Inca Pachaquteq around 1450. Admire the architecture and the Inca hydraulic engineering and important sites of the archaeological center. Return from Machu Picchu and enjoy your lunch in one of the good restaurants in Machu Picchu. Make sure you arrive at the train station 30 minutes early. To board the return train, our staff will wait for you at the Ollantaytambo station and take you to your hotel in Cusco.

Huayna Picchu: This is the mountain that stands next to Machu Picchu. It is a 55-minute hike to the top. Going back down is quite steep if you are scared of heights. You would do this after you tour Machu Picchu. The cost is $75. Arrangements need to be made at least one month in advance due to popularity. Please understand that the weather is out of our control.
About booking and payment form
Booking a TRIP (trek or by train) requires a deposit of 50% of the total price of the trip. Please note that this deposit is mandatory to buy the train and entrance tickets to Machu Picchu, all subject to availability. After your deposit and reservation then confirmed, your outstanding balance is due when you arrive in Cusco, either 48 hours before departure or during your briefing. If you do not pay outstanding balances before departure, you cannot participate in your scheduled trip. The final acceptance of any participant is subject to the receipt and review of all the forms, documents, and payments required.
About trip itineraries
All Peruvian Culture Tours hikes are subject to itinerary changes based on a variety of circumstances, Peruvian Culture Tours reserves the right to cancel or change any trip due to river, road, weather conditions, or political climate. We also reserve the right to cancel any trip due to client unsuitability because of age, ill-health, poor fitness, intoxication, etc.
Any missed tours due to the above-listed incidences (weather conditions or political climate) cannot be refunded or recuperated.
The price and duration of a hiking trip will never change once you’re registered. Payments are not refundable for itinerary changes or public land closures. If a trip is canceled due to circumstances beyond our control, a trip credit equal to the full amount paid will be issued.
Change policy
If you wish to change the date of departure/ and or route of your trek after making the reservation/deposit, there will be a $50 per person fee to make the change, except if the change is made in the 48 hours prior to the trek, when the change will cost $100 per person.
Cancelations by cliente:
Cancelation of tour once you have received a written confirmation incurs a loss of booking deposit -Non-refundable booking deposit.
- Cancelation of tour within 45 to 22 days before the date of tour departure incurs a loss of 70% of the total tour cost.
- Cancelation of tour within 21 to 9 days before departure incurs a loss of 80% of total tour cost.
- Cancelation of tour within 8 days to 48 hours before departure incurs a loss of 100% of total tour cost.
- Peruvian Culture Tours does not take responsibility for additional costs due to unfavorable weather conditions, natural catastrophes, strikes, accidents, illness, injury, loss of personal items, etc. It is the client’s responsibility to carry insurance to cover these types of events. We reserve the right to modify or cancel the program due to any of the unforeseen conditions listed above.
Medical releases
We require medical releases for prospective guests over 70 years of age and for various circumstances such as the history of cardiovascular disease, chronic illness, and other conditions and factors.
Let know to the guides if you consume any medical tab, pill, or chronic illness to prevent any accident or emergency case, if you have the first aid kit brought for the trail will be very useful for member hikers.
