Day 1: Arrival in Cusco – Transfer to Ollantaytambo, the Living Inca Town
Upon arrival at Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport, a representative from Peruvian Culture Tours will greet you and escort you comfortably to Ollantaytambo, one of Peru’s last living Inca towns.
Before departing for the Sacred Valley, you will pause briefly in Cusco’s city center for last-minute shopping or personal needs. Then, enjoy a stunning 2-hour journey across Andean landscapes, picturesque villages, and dramatic mountain vistas, with opportunities for memorable photos.
Once in Ollantaytambo, take free time to savor lunch, wander cobblestone lanes, and relax amid striking mountains and genuine Inca stonework.
Beginning your journey in Ollantaytambo is ideal for altitude acclimatization, as its lower elevation allows your body to adjust more gradually and comfortably before traveling to higher areas of the Andes.
Day 2 : Explore Machu Picchu sunset
Today, you will experience the breathtaking wonder of Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
After breakfast at your hotel in the Sacred Valley, you will travel by comfortable private van to the train station, where you will board a Expedition train to Aguas Calientes. During the approximately two-hour journey, you will enjoy spectacular views through The windows, admiring the majestic mountains, winding rivers, and lush cloud forest landscapes of the Andes.
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, our professional guide will warmly welcome you and accompany you to your hotel. You will then have free time to enjoy lunch at one of the town’s recommended restaurants, including Full House Craft Beer & Peruvian Cuisine, Chullos Restaurant, Ponchos Peruvian Kitchen, Green House Vegetarian Restaurant, or Misky Restaurant.
In the afternoon, your guide will accompany you to the bus station for a scenic 35-minute ride up the mountain to Machu Picchu. If weather conditions allow, you may have the unforgettable opportunity to enjoy the sunset over the ancient Inca citadel.
After presenting your passport and entrance ticket, you will begin a guided tour of approximately three hours through this extraordinary archaeological masterpiece. During the visit, you will explore the most iconic viewpoints for classic Machu Picchu photographs while learning about the remarkable Inca architecture, sacred temples, agricultural terraces, and advanced engineering that make this site one of the world’s greatest cultural treasures.
At the end of the tour, you will return by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you can relax, enjoy a memorable dinner, and spend the night surrounded by the magical atmosphere of Machu Picchu town.
Day 3: Panoramic Vistadome Train – Return to the Sacred Valley
Enjoy a leisurely morning in Aguas Calientes with extra time to relax before breakfast at your hotel. Afterward, you will have free time to explore this charming village at the foot of Machu Picchu. Stroll through the colorful handicraft and textile markets, visit local cafés, or simply take in the peaceful atmosphere surrounded by the lush cloud forest and majestic Andean mountains.
At the appropriate time, walk to the train station approximately 35 minutes before your scheduled departure. Board the panoramic Vistadome train and enjoy a spectacular two-hour journey through the heart of the Andes. The train’s large panoramic windows provide breathtaking views of dramatic mountain scenery, winding rivers, and picturesque valleys, making the return trip just as memorable as your journey to Machu Picchu.
Upon your arrival at Ollantaytambo Train Station, your Peruvian Culture Tours representative will be waiting to welcome you with a personalized sign displaying your name. You will then be transferred in a comfortable private vehicle to your hotel in the beautiful Sacred Valley, where you can relax and enjoy the remainder of the day at your own pace.
Day 4: Explore Sacred Valley Tour from Ollantaytambo
After breakfast, your professional guide will meet you at your hotel in the Sacred Valley at 8:30 a.m. for a full-day private tour through one of Peru’s most extraordinary cultural and historical regions. Travel at a relaxed pace in the comfort of private transportation while discovering the remarkable legacy of the Inca civilization.
Your journey begins with a guided visit to the magnificent Ollantaytambo Archaeological Site, one of the best-preserved Inca towns and an impressive ceremonial and military center. Continue to a carefully selected local restaurant to enjoy a delicious lunch featuring regional flavors of the Sacred Valley.
In the afternoon, explore the breathtaking Maras Salt Mines, where thousands of salt pools have been harvested since pre-Inca times, followed by a visit to the fascinating circular terraces of Moray, the Incas’ remarkable agricultural research center. Complete your experience in Chinchero, a traditional Andean village renowned for its colonial church, impressive Inca ruins, and centuries-old weaving traditions preserved by local artisans.
Before returning to Cusco, stop at a panoramic viewpoint to admire the spectacular landscapes of the Sacred Valley. This unforgettable experience perfectly blends Inca history, living culture, breathtaking Andean scenery, and the personalized service that defines Peruvian Culture Tours.
Day 5: Hike to Humantay Lake – Spectacular Mountain Views and Glaciers
Your adventure to Humantay Lake begins at 4:00 a.m. with hotel pickup and a boxed breakfast provided by your hotel. You will travel in comfortable transportation with an official professional guide.
The journey starts with a 2-hour drive from Cusco to Mollepata, followed by an additional 1-hour drive to the trek starting point.
The hike takes approximately 3 hours, gradually ascending through stunning Andean scenery until reaching 4,200 meters (13,780 ft). Afterward, you will continue to the stunning Red Valley, surrounded by spectacular landscapes and views of the majestic Ausangate glaciers. Following the visit, you will hike downhill for approximately 1 hour before continuing to Cusipata to enjoy a delicious local lunch.
In the afternoon, we return to Cusco, concluding an unforgettable trekking experience in the Peruvian Andes.
