Day 1: Cusco city –Lares hot sprits – Kiswarani 6 Waterfalls and Campsite.
MORNING: We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:00 AM, and from there, we will begin our three-hour drive through the beautiful valleys toward Lares.Once we arrive in the town of Lares, which is very famous for its medicinal hot springs, we will be ready to start our adventure.
BREAKFAST: To begin the day, we will enjoy a delicious breakfast, accompanied by tropical fruits and a stunning view of the Lares Valley.
ACTIVITIES: After breakfast, enjoy the Medicinal Thermal Baths, where you can soak in mineral-rich volcanic pools, beneficial for stress, bones, and muscles.Following the soak, we’ll drive 20 minutes to the Lares Trailhead, where you’ll meet your porters and horses.Once there, you’ll hand over your bags, and we’ll begin our trek.Along the way, we’ll pass fields, visit Quechua communities in colorful costumes, and spot llamas and alpacas.
LUNCH: Around midday, we will have a delicious lunch in the Kiswarani community.After lunch, we will head out to visit the six beautiful waterfalls in the area, and then we will continue toward our camping site.
OVERNIGHT: We will spend the night near a serene lake, with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains in Kiswarani. As the day comes to a close, we will enjoy a delicious dinner to end the day on a satisfying note.
Day 2: Kiswarani – Condor Mountain Pass – Lares trail Cancha Cancha Village.
BREAKFAST: We begin the day with a delicious breakfast at 6:30 AM in the mountains.Following that, we will enjoy an organic fruit snack to energize us for the day ahead.
ACTIVITIES: First, we will start trekking through the Lares mountains towards our second campsite, enjoying stunning views of the Lares range and turquoise lagoons.Along the way, we’ll encounter wild animals.Then, we’ll hike uphill for four hours to reach Cóndor Pass, where we’ll take in breathtaking views of the Pituitary Glacier. Afterward, we’ll relax with Coca leaf tea and hot chocolate before continuing downhill to the community of Cancha Cancha.
LUNCH: Following our arrival, we will have a delicious lunch in the Cancha Cancha community.This town is situated at 3,750 meters (12,303 feet). Here, you will have the opportunity to learn about the local way of life and observe how the residents raise their (guinea pigs).
OVERNIGHT: As the evening sets in, we will overnight in the Cancha Cancha community. After a fulfilling day of trekking, we will enjoy a delicious dinner, and to wind down, you will savor a hot Coca drink.
Day 3: Cancha Cancha – Huaran village –Salt Mine – overnight in Ollantaytambo.
BREAKFAST:Early in the morning, at 6:00 AM, we begin the day with a delicious breakfast.Afterward, we will start our journey by walking down to the warmest area of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
ACTIVITIES:To begin with, we will start our descent toward the Huaran community. Along the way, we will begin to notice the changes in climate as we descend.As we continue on our journey, we will start to see fields of various crops, including giant white corn, quinoa, peaches, apples, avocados, and other types of fruit.Eventually, we will complete the Lares Trail tour in the small town of Huaran, located in the Sacred Valley at an elevation of 2,700 meters.
LUNCH: To begin with, we will enjoy a delicious lunch in the Huaran community. Following that, we will say our farewells to the porters and the chef, marking the end of their part in our journey.
AFTERNOON: Following lunch, we will take a private transport from the Huaran community to the Maras Salt Mines, where more than 3,000 small evaporation chambers have been created that seem to cascade down the mountainside. In fact, this Maras salt mine has been in use since pre-Inca times.
Following our visit to the Maras Salineras, we will board the van for a 45-minute ride to the city of Ollantaytambo, located in the Sacred Valley.Once there, we will go to the hotel.
OVERNIGHT: In ollantaytambo enjoying the beautifull mountains .
DINNER: we will have a delicious dinner in ollantaytambo in a turistic restaurant.
Day 4: Ollantaytambo – trek Km 104 Chachabamba- Wiñay Wayna – sun gate – Machu Picchu citadel, classic photo of Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes town.
Morning: at 5: am breakfast early in the morning after breakfast, we go to the train station in Ollantaytambo, we have a train journey to km104.
Activities: we take a train journey to km104, where we will appreciate the beautiful views of the snow-capped mountains, and the sacred valley river. when we arrive at km104 we will start with our short Incan trail trekking to Machu Picchu, passing Chachabamba located at 2250 m.s.n.m.
Lunch at wiñayhuayna: we have a box lunch after lunch we hike to Inti Punku Sun Gate with views over Machu Picchu. Along the Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, you will see spectacular views.
We will enjoy the visit to Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, at sunset and we will take classic photos of the city. By this time of day, the travelers will be gone, leaving the entire area of Machu Picchu for you.
Overnight in Machupicchu town: we take the bus from Machu Picchu Incan city to the town of Aguas Calientes. Then we go to the hotel and then we have our delicious dinner in the best restaurant in Machu Picchu town.
Day 5: Machu Picchu Tour – Ollantaytambo – back to Cusco city.
Morning: Explore Machu Picchu with circuit 2 , one of the 7 Wonders of The World. The Machu Picchu sanctuary is open from 6:00 am.
Breakfast: We will start with breakfast at our hotel at 6:00am.
Bus to Machu Picchu: We will take the bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu Archeological Park and then we need to have entrance tickets to Machu Picchu and a personal passport. Once we enter the Inca city, we will have a 2-hours guide in Machu Picchu Incan city.
Activities: Admire the architecture and the Inca hydraulic engineering and important sites of the archaeological center of Machu Picchu.
Lunch: Return from Machu Picchu and enjoy your lunch in one of the good restaurants in Machu Picchu town.
Train to Ollantaytambo: Make sure to arrive at the train station 35 minutes early. To board the return train it takes 2 hours , our staff will be waiting for you at the train station in Ollantaytambo and then we take a bus for 1:30minutes back to Cusco at your hotel in Cusco.

How high is Lares Trek?
The Lares trek begins in the town of Lares, located at an altitude of 3,226 m, ascending to the Condor’s flight pass, which is at 4,680 meters above sea level. then follows the descent back to the Sacred Valley. Machu Picchu mountain is located at an altitude of 10,111 feet (3,082 M.S.N.)
Some people can be affected by altitude sickness, but this is not a big problem for this trek, for most people it is quite acclimatized, although there are also medications to relieve the symptoms.
How difficult is the Lares trek?
The Lares Trek is considered a moderate hike. We recommend purchasing a wooden walking stick while in Peru as it will help with your balance and reduce the load on your knees.

How are the weather in Lares and the short Inca trail?

About booking and payment form
Booking a TRIP (trek or by train) requires a deposit of 50% of the total price of the trip. Please note that this deposit is mandatory to buy the train and entrance tickets to Machu Picchu, all subject to availability. After your deposit and reservation then confirmed, your outstanding balance is due when you arrive in Cusco, either 48 hours before departure or during your briefing. If you do not pay outstanding balances before departure, you cannot participate in your scheduled trip. The final acceptance of any participant is subject to the receipt and review of all the forms, documents, and payments required.
About trip itineraries
All Peruvian Culture Tours hikes are subject to itinerary changes based on a variety of circumstances, Peruvian Culture Tours reserves the right to cancel or change any trip due to river, road, weather conditions, or political climate. We also reserve the right to cancel any trip due to client unsuitability because of age, ill health, poor fitness, intoxication, etc.
Any missed tours due to the above-listed incidences (eg weather conditions or political climate) cannot be refunded or recuperated.
The price and duration of a hiking trip will never change once you’re registered. Payments are not refundable for itinerary changes or public land closures. If a trip is canceled due to circumstances beyond our control a trip credit equal to the full amount paid will be issued.
Change policy
If you wish to change the date of departure/ and or route of your trek after making the reservation/deposit, there will be a $50 per-person fee to make the change.
Except if the change is made in the 48 hours prior to the trek, when the change will cost $100 per person.
Cancelations by clients:
Cancelation of the tour once you have received a written confirmation incurs a loss of booking deposit -A non-refundable booking deposit.
- Cancelation of the tour within 45 to 22 days before the date of tour departure incurs a loss of 70% of the total tour cost.
- Cancelation of the tour within 21 to 9 days before departure incurs a loss of 80% of the total tour cost.
- Cancelation of the tour within 8 days to 48 hours before departure incurs a loss of 100% of the total tour cost.
- Peruvian Culture Tours is not responsible for additional costs due to unfavorable weather conditions, natural catastrophes, strikes, accidents, illness, injury, loss of personal items, etc. It is the client’s responsibility to carry insurance to cover these types of events. We reserve the right to modify or cancel the program due to any unforeseen conditions.
Medical releases
We require medical releases for prospective guests over 70 years of age and for various circumstances such as a history of cardiovascular disease, chronic illness, and other conditions and factors.
Let know to the guides if you consume any medical tab, pill, or chronic illness to prevent any accident or emergency case, if you have the first aid kit brought for the trail will be very useful for member hikers.
