After approximately 3 hours of driving, you will arrive in Paracas, one of Peru’s most important coastal wildlife reserves. Here, you will visit the iconic Plaza Mayor (Main Square), the birthplace of Lima and home to some of the city’s most important historical landmarks, including the Government Palace, the Cathedral of Lima, and elegant colonial mansions.

The experience continues with a guided visit to the renowned Convent of San Francisco, one of the finest examples of colonial architecture in South America. This historic convent is famous for its beautiful cloisters, religious art, and its underground catacombs, which served as Lima’s first public cemetery during the colonial era. As you explore its corridors and subterranean chambers, you will gain insight into the city’s fascinating religious and cultural heritage.

Afterward, enjoy a delicious homemade lunch while sharing the warmth and hospitality of the local community.

Later, you will learn about traditional weaving techniques using alpaca and llama wool, including natural dyeing methods that have been preserved for generations. In the afternoon, you will explore the surrounding countryside, discover native medicinal plants, and admire the agricultural landscapes and beautiful views of Piuray Lake.

Day 6: Sacred Valley tour – overnight in Sacred Valley

After breakfast at your hotel in Cusco, your private guide from Peruvian Culture Tours will meet you in the lobby at 8:00 a.m. to begin an unforgettable full-day exploration of the legendary Sacred Valley of the Incas. Traveling in the comfort of private transportation, you will discover some of the most remarkable archaeological, cultural, and natural treasures of the Andean highlands.

Your journey begins in Chinchero, a picturesque Andean village renowned as one of the most important Inca settlements in Peru. Here, you will admire impressive agricultural terraces, visit a colonial church built upon original Inca foundations, and gain insight into the living traditions that continue to shape local life and culture.

Moray:

Continue to Moray, an extraordinary archaeological site distinguished by its concentric circular terraces. Renowned for its unique circular terraces, Moray is believed to have been an important agricultural research center of the Inca Empire. By creating distinct microclimates at different levels, the Incas were able to experiment with crop cultivation and improve agricultural productivity. Today, the site stands as a testament to their remarkable engineering expertise and deep knowledge of environmental adaptation.

Next, visit the spectacular Maras Salt Mines, where thousands of salt ponds cascade down the mountainside, creating a breathtaking mosaic of white terraces. Continuously worked since pre-Inca times, this unique site remains one of the most iconic and photogenic landscapes in the Peruvian Andes.

At midday, arrive in Urubamba, the heart of the Sacred Valley, where you will enjoy a delicious lunch at a carefully selected restaurant featuring a combination of traditional Peruvian specialties and international cuisine.

In the afternoon, explore the magnificent archaeological complex of Ollantaytambo, one of the finest surviving examples of Inca urban planning and architecture. Discover its monumental terraces, ceremonial temples, masterfully crafted stonework, and strategic defensive structures while learning about its crucial role within the Inca Empire.

Day 7: Explore Machu Picchu sunset

Today, you will experience the breathtaking wonder of Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

After breakfast at your hotel in the Sacred Valley, you will travel by comfortable private van to the train station, where you will board a scenic tourist train to Aguas Calientes. During the approximately two-hour journey, you will enjoy spectacular views, admiring the majestic mountains, winding rivers, and lush cloud forest landscapes of the Andes.

Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, our professional guide will warmly welcome you and accompany you to your hotel. You will then have free time to enjoy lunch at one of the town’s recommended restaurants, including Full House Craft Beer & Peruvian Cuisine, Chullos Restaurant, Ponchos Peruvian Kitchen, Green House Vegetarian Restaurant, or Misky Restaurant.

In the afternoon, your guide will accompany you to the bus station for a scenic 35-minute ride up the mountain to Machu Picchu. If weather conditions allow, you may have the unforgettable opportunity to enjoy the sunset over the ancient Inca citadel.

After presenting your passport and entrance ticket, you will begin a guided tour of approximately three hours through this extraordinary archaeological masterpiece. During the visit, you will explore the most iconic viewpoints for classic Machu Picchu photographs while learning about the remarkable Inca architecture, sacred temples, agricultural terraces, and advanced engineering that make this site one of the world’s greatest cultural treasures.

At the end of the tour, you will return by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you can relax, enjoy a memorable dinner, and spend the night surrounded by the magical atmosphere of Machu Picchu.
